WESTPORT, Conn., April 22, 2019 — Westport House, a premier provider of sober living for men in Fairfield County, announced the addition of personal training to its catalog of services through a partnership with Maria Acosta and her “Lean Strength” brand. Maria is an Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA) certified personal trainer, aerobic instructor, and nutrition counselor. She will offer Westport House private group training, personal training, and nutrition programs for all fitness levels on Mondays and Wednesday at “Intensity” located on Boston Post Road in Norwalk. She’ll work one-on-one with the sober living residents to deliver personalized fitness and nutrition plans, helping to keep them accountable while they work towards their fitness goals. Motivated by his own experience with a substance use disorder and the importance of a healthy lifestyle to recovery, Westport House Executive Director and Founder Albert Samaras was moved to add more options for Westport House sober living clients. He states, “Working out is good for both the body and the mind. Study after study has demonstrated that it achieves results similar to treatments for depression, such as antidepressants and behavioral therapy. Strength and aerobic training alone, however, is unlikely to serve as a cure for depression or anxiety, but it can help manage both conditions, improving both physical and psychological wellbeing.” “We’ve always offered clients a free membership to the Westport YMCA,” Samaras continued. “Our partnership with Maria and Lean Strength will offer a more structured approach to fitness while teaching clients proper technique and form to perform exercises safely and efficiently, helping them set and reach realistic goals, keeping them motivated with new routines, and introducing a variety of exercises to their current exercise program. As a team, we’re excited to see the results.” About Westport House Sober LivingWestport House is a premier sober living program located in Westport, CT designed to help men navigate early sobriety and transition back into life with the skills, practical experience, and foundation in recovery that best positions them for long-term health and success.
